If your question is short, the FAQ probably answers it already.

Help topics

Getting started

Scan or add an item, save a cooking setup for one of your appliances, and start a timer. The item is saved the moment you save it — there is nothing to sync and nothing to sign in to.

Scanning a product

Point the camera at the barcode. If the camera is unavailable or a package will not scan, type the barcode or skip it entirely and name the item yourself.

Camera permission is denied

Scanning needs the camera, and a denied permission cannot be re-asked from inside the app. Open your phone settings, allow the camera for Cook It Again, and return. Manual entry works either way.

Custom Dishes

A Custom Dish needs a name and how much it makes. Ingredients, a photo, a category, and notes are all optional, and can be added at any time afterwards.

Ingredients and portions

Add ingredients in the order you use them, and reorder them with Move Up and Move Down. Amounts accept whole numbers, decimals, and fractions — 2, 1.5, 1/2, and 1 1/2 all work.

Why cooking time does not scale

Scaling changes ingredient amounts only. Doubling a batch might need longer, or might need two trays — the app has no way to tell which, so it changes nothing and leaves the judgement to you.

Cooking setups

One item can have a setup per appliance. The one you use most becomes the preferred setup and is offered first; the others are one tap away.

Timer alerts are not appearing

Check notifications are allowed for Cook It Again in your phone settings, and that Focus, Do Not Disturb, or a sleep schedule is not silencing them. Alerts are scheduled with the operating system when the cook starts, so a cook started while notifications were off will not have them.

Results and history

Recording a result is optional and skipping it still keeps the cook in your history. A suggested time change is only ever applied when you tap to accept it.

Lifetime purchase and restore

Apple and Google process the payment. Restore Purchases is always available in Settings and needs the store account you originally bought with. Refunds go through the store, under its own policy.

Exporting and restoring a backup

Export writes one file and hands it to your phone’s share sheet, where you choose the destination. Restoring shows you what the file holds and what is on the phone now, before anything is replaced — and restoring is free whether or not you have bought the unlock.

Deleting your data

Settings holds a delete-everything action that removes saved items, setups, history, and photos from the device. It keeps your purchase, because that belongs to your store account rather than to the app.

Purchases and restoring

  • Apple and Google process every payment. The app never sees your card details.
  • Restore Purchases needs the same store account that made the original purchase.
  • Refunds go through the store, under the store’s own policy.
  • A purchase belongs to the store account that made it, so an iOS purchase does not carry over to Android.

Backup and restore

  • Export writes one file and hands it to your phone’s share sheet.
  • You choose where it goes. Nothing is uploaded for you.
  • Restoring shows what the file holds and what is on the phone now, before anything is replaced.
  • Restoring is free. Only exporting needs the lifetime unlock.

Still need help?

Email support@cookitagain.com. There is no contact form here, because this site has no server to receive one.

What to include

  • Your device model and OS version
  • The Cook It Again version, from Settings → About
  • What you did, step by step, and what happened instead
  • Whether it involves a packaged product or a Custom Dish
  • Whether you have a recent backup file

Please do not send passwords, payment card details, or any personal information the question does not need.

Settings → Data controls can create a support report: build details, permission states, and counts of what you have saved. It carries no product names, photos, or notes, and nothing is sent anywhere until you send it yourself.
